The pattern in the shape of a spider web is called fir-press, and a traditional technique is used in which the traces of floss are transferred by applying foil stamping from the top of the floss made from stretched floss. It is used for name-taking exams for each school. Because it is a shaku fan, I think it is often used by those with a taller back. The large size makes it look great on stage and has a presence.
